いよいよ2月6日に発売される新作【Sleep Through The Static】に少し遅れて来日することが決まったジャックさん。

4/12(sat), 4/13(sun), 横浜赤レンガパーク野外特設会場

その公演のサポートをするメイソン・ジェニングスさんのこの曲↓が美しくてたまらない。

この曲は船長に教えてもらったんですが、その時は正式な曲名はわからず、サビで歌われる「sweet heart」という言葉が曲名になっていたのでした。

しかもその時iTunesのジャケットに収まっていたのは違うアルバムのジャケットだったのが、この後この「sweet heart」をいくら探しても見つからないスパイラルに陥らせてくれたのでした。（笑）

そしてそれ以来、何度も何度も聴いて聴いて、キーワードに、

「sweet heart」
「Mason Jennings」

でどこを検索してもヒットせず、メイソンのオフィシャルサイトに行ってもわからず、ウロウロしているうちに時間は流れて、僕の中には「sweet heart」として刷り込まれていきました。

そして数ヶ月前、やっぱりあきらめられきれずに再びメイソンのHPに行って、「sweet heart」をリピートしながら歌詞を口ずさみながら探していたら、やっと見つけることができたのでした。

この曲名は「sewwt heart」ではなくて、「Birds Flying Away」というアルバムの【Ballad For My One True Love】という曲名でした。

こりゃあわからんわ、と唸りながらアマゾンで即クリック、その数日後に届いたアルバムを擦り切るぐらいに聴き倒している。

この素晴らしい曲名や「sweet heart」と歌われる歌詞もそうですが、なんといってもこの曲に惹かれたのはそのギターの音色でした。

コードのつながり、ヴァース、コーラス、ヴァース、リフ、ギターのすべてががたまらなく素晴らしい曲です。

2008年もお正月3が日の締めくくりの今日、といってもまだまだお正月な1月3日。
