I went to visit Canvas Surfboards.
Christian Wach gave me a little tour of the place,
so I thought it’d be cool to take you guys on a virtual tour of what I saw.

クリスチャンが工場の色々を見せてくれたので、

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the crazy amount of blanks.
You’ll see everything from 12′ SUP blanks to 5′ shortboard blanks.
There are several surfboard companies making boards here including Canvas and Nation.

まず入って驚くのはブランクの数。
３メートルを超えるSUP用のもあれば、ショートボード用の小さいのもあります。
ここではCanvasとNationの他に数件サーフボード会社が集まっており、
建物全体がサーフボード制作工場となっています。
You move in further and this is what you see.
It’s a state of the art shaping machine operated by Ryan Engle.
Thousandth of an inch precision allows him to shape high quality boards consistently.
The door to left is the entrance to Ryan’s shaping bay.
Photos of Ryan shaping will be featured in future blogs, so stay tuned!
By the way, the Lakers lost to the Thunders last night haha.
Had to mention it since I noticed the Lakers banner hanging in this room.

Ryan came out of the shaping room for lunch.
Christian urges Ryan to take a photo with him, and here it is.

お昼休憩のためにちょうどライアンが出て来た。
久しぶりに一緒に写真撮ろうぜ！
とライアンに頼むクリスチャン。
しょうがないな、撮ってやるよ。
素晴らしいニコリンスマイルで応えてくれました。
There is a wall that is decorated with hula girls.
You move down this hall and there’s another shaping room with a few finished boards against the wall.

壁には大きなフラガールの絵。
この廊下を進むと違うシェイピングルームがあり、
仕上がったボードも数本ここに置いてありました。
Christian showed me several boards,
but I personally found this one to be the most interesting.
It’s going to be displayed at Bagel Shack located on El Camino in SC.
Can’t wait to see the board there since I go there at least once a week.

クリスチャンは何本がボードを見せてくれましたが、
個人的にはこれが一番気に入りました。
サンクレメンテにはベーグル・シャックというベーグル屋があり、
そこの展示用のボードだそうです。
ベーグル・シャックには僕もよく行きますが、
みなさんもサンクレメンテに来る機会があればぜひ行ってみて下さい！
ベーグルサンドがかなりおいしいです！
If you take the stairs that you saw in the hula girl picture,
you’ll come to the glassing room upstairs.
There is cool art work with resin on the boards and the floors.
I’ll be showing these in detail in the near future.
Hopefully my brain cells can survive the resin fumes.

ここでボードがラミネートされていく。
ボードにも床にも鮮やかなアートが施されている。

Christian showed me a MNR with cool color artwork.
Whoever is picking this board up is going to be stoked.

グラッシングルームを出ると数本完成ボードが置いてある。
クリスチャンもお気に入りのアート入りのMNR。
虹のようにきれいなボードでした。
Well that’s it for the tour folks.
Naki arrived with DDG as I was getting ready to leave.
Naki was trying to convince Chrisitan to go to Japan with him on a 3 days notice.
We’ll see how that turns out haha.
